Halloween 2009
It's almost here! I've been sewing costumes all week. Lyle is Robin Hood, I'm Maid Marian, Colby will be Willy Wonka, last week I sewed Ari a skirt for a pirate princess. She will wear her hat from Disneyland as will Alyssa who will be mini mouse. We couldn't find red polka dot fabric so we bought red costume satin and have punched 1" circles on sticker paper to make the dots stick to the skirt! In the past 2 days i've sewn a blue ninja and a white ninja. Amalie was over and sewed her caveman and cavegirl outfits for she and Nick. Our trunk or treat is this saturday followed by a Monster Mash dance in the gym! Looking forward to it and hope that the weather stays beautiful, but less hot.

Forgot to say that Alena has a slew of costumes to choose from. Today she chose to be Snow White at her preschool. They did a little trick or treat around the school. She also won the title of Queen of Manana. She had a sash and crown. It is so appropo! She can choose to be Jasmine, Belle, Cinderella, Sleeping beauty, Mu Lan or a fairy (pink, white or blue). We have all of the costumes ready to go. But of course if she prefers Queen of Manana we can do that too!
Oct 31 was a saturday night this year. I organized a trunk or treat, dance and invited the Newtown 1st ward to join us, with Stake presidency approval. It turned out to be the bomb activity of the year, so far. Well, I've had many great ones this year! They made a maze out of cardboard boxes. the kids really enjoyed it. the food was great! and my family was all dressed up in various costumes. Alena chose Belle for this night. She was Snow White on thursday at school. Lyle was the handsomest Robin Hood ever! and i was his fair Maid Marian. Alyssa was Minnie Mouse. She made use of her ears that we bought in Disneyland. We are ready to go back! Jaren was a blue Ninja and Colby was willy Wonka. Forgot to buy Wonka bars for him to hand out. oh well. It was an awesome evening. The teens from our ward really enjoyed the dance part. Makana dragged Jeremy and his friend David out onto the dance floor. That was cool
